An application which can help you in this situation is SoundCheck. This Windows program can analyze the audio parameters and settings of almost any soundcard and can display them in a graphical way. After the program is installed and launched, the user will be presented with a graphical interface, in which he will only need to click on the record button, for SoundCheck to start recording audio from the default system recording source.

After stopping the recording process, the user will be able to play it and view various parameters, like amplitude, frequencies and so on. These factors are crucial when comparing soundcards.
